Jade sat by the banks of Moonflow watching how the water glowed and sparkle due to the many pyreflies. Sighing in content she layed back in the grass, her exotic toned skin radiating due to the scattering pyreflies. She turned her head to her right and noticed an approaching figure.

Squall was walking down that moon flow dirt trail with his gloved hands shoved inside his leather jacket. He was coming back from a Mark he was hired to do, there had been a fiend tormenting travelers and traders coming to and from the moon flow and it was Squall’s job to take him out. It was rather easy but he did grow up in a Military Instate so he did find most battles simple. He passed by a figure in the grass without a second though continued walking back to luca where his Summoner was waiting.

Jade watched as the figure walked passed her. She was going to turn back and face the water when she caught a glimpse of the weapon the figure had. " I know that strange looking weapon anywhere.." Rolling onto her stomach and sitting up on her elbows she called out to the figure. "Squall? Is that you?"

Squall stopped dead in his tracks and turned around looking for the source of the voice. When he heard none he looked down at the figure he had seen several seconds before. Squinting his eyes slightly in effort to see though the twilight darkness with little success. He was getting ready to move closer when a pyreflies roamed in their direction illuminating the nearby radius. Squall shifted his gaze to the pyreflies and nodded in thanks then turned back to the figure. “Jade…” He said with his normal stoic frown not wanting a travel partner or someone to talk to. It was to late to be getting annoyed.

Looking at him with her emerald colored eyes, Jade smirked and said "I'm surprised that you don't have Yuna with you. You must have wanted some alone time." She chuckled lightly at herself and rested her head on her arms while still looking at him. He had that "why are you talking to me, its late and I want to go home" look on his face. Laughing she got up and sat Indian style in front him.

Squall didn’t laugh with her only looked at her indifferently, “Look if this conversation isn’t going anywhere im leaving.” He dead panned as he turned around and resumed walking away and strangely that lone pyreflies followed.

She watched with in different eyes as he walked away. Jade could only laugh at the way he acted sometimes, always serious never laughing or smiling unless it involved others being hurt or humiliated. She was surprised when he didn't keep walking despite the fact that she called out his name. "Maybe she will be able to get something beside a frown and one word remark out of him.." Jade thought as she looked up at the star scattered sky.

Squall noticed a trail of light behind him and looked back to see the pyreflies from before. “You can leave now; this trail is lit enough for me to make my way.” He replied to the little ball of light and turned back around. He walked again for several minutes before stopping as the pyreflies flew right though him. Squall sighed as he rubbed his scar in annoyance at the floating night light.

Jade decided that it was time to start moving again, so she got up and headed down the road in the direction Squall just came from. Usually the nights were dark but the stars gave off a little light. Jade felt somebody grab her from behind and as a naturally reaction, she gave out the loudest scream she had ever produced. Just then another man appeared in front of her, slapping her hard across the face. "My my my, we've caught a pretty one boys." The man said as 5 other men came from out of the shadows. Jade went to punch the man right in his jaw but found her hands were bound. Kicking the man behind her in the knee, he stepped back giving Jade the perfect opportunity to kick the man in front of her ass. She went to kick him in the face but stopped inches from his face feeling that her legs would no longer move. The man in front of her chuckled as he pulled a senbon out of her thigh. "We won't be having any more trouble out of you." He said as he grabbed her leg ang flung her to the ground.

Squall and the pyreflie turned around. Squall was frowning at the interruption in his strict travel routine for the second time and the pyreflie...well it was just revolving around squalls head. "It's too late for this crap..." He muttered as he began to run back the way he came in search of jade. "Jade!?" He called out into the darkness.

Jade desperatly tried to move her body, but to no avail it stayed right where it was. The man, who seemed to be the leader, stepped forward and rubbed his rough hand along her delicate cheek. "She is a very pretty one indeed. The prettiest one I will have had." He said as he took out the clip that held her hair back. Her long her cascaded down her shoulders and the man ran his hand through it. He bent down and kissed her, chuckling at the look of pure hatred and disgust that Jade's eyes held. Picking her up bridal style, he signaled to his men that it was time to get moving. "What did I do to deserve to be in a situation like this?"

Squall had climbed a tree and was currently on a branch suspended over the group harassing jade. He had hid the pyreflie inside his jacket to mask the light and whispered to it. “I don’t know if you can understand me, but if you can I need your help. I need you to cause a distraction so I can take them while this surprised.” The pyreflie did something strange it seemed to move up and down slightly resembling nodding as it flew out of Squalls jacket and downward in front of the leaders face. “What the hell is this thing doing?” He asked swatting at the pyreflie but had no effect sense his hand went right threw it. The other men laughed at their leader as squall pulled out his gunblade and jumped off the branch giving a fierce war cry as he brought his blade down.

Jade eyes held relief as she heard a familiar voice and saw Squall jumping out of a tree. The leader laid her down in the grass, kissed her once again and said, "Don't worry I'm not finished with you yet, beautiful." He then turned back around to battle the figure that interrupted him from his prized catch. Jade strained her eyes to see but all she could see was feet from the position she was at. Her cheek stung from the slap she recieved and the impact of her face hitting the dirt when she was flung like a ragdoll. "Greeaaat. Now I'm going to have a huge purple bruise on my face."

Squall had quickly dispatched the other members of this man's party with the help of his pyreflie companion and turned his sights on the leader, "Flee now while im giveing you the chance." Squall said loading his gunblade and pointing it at the taller older man in front of him.

Jade suddenly felt very tired and struggled to keep her eyes open. "Come on Jade! Stay awake, don't you fall asleep!" She thought as she gave her self a pep talk. Giving up wasn't in Jade's vocabualry, she didn't give up when her parents let her down and she wasn't going to give in into something minor such as passing out. She heard Squall speak and the leader chuckle and say, " You want me to leave when I've just caught the most beautiful woman in all of Spira. She is my prize and I will have her." he held a dark tone in his voice.
